About the event
Jamell Richardson, originally from Meridian, MS and raised in Butler, AL, began his musical journey at just one year old, attending church with his mother and grandmother who was a pastor. By age 11, he was already playing guitar, singing, and recording in the studio and at church. Jamell's early inspiration came from playing with numerous gospel quartet groups, including Rance Allen, Paul Beasley, Donnie McClurkin, Marvin Sapp, and others. As he matured, he began listening to blues legends such as B.B. King and Jimi Hendrix, and became interested in other genres. He went on to share the stage with Bobby Womack, Lenny Williams, Al Green, Shirley Brown, Denise LaSalle, Millie Jackson, and more. Jamell won the 92zew "Reach For The Beach Contest" in 2015, which earned him a spot performing at the MTV Hangout Music Festival with artists like The Foo Fighters and Paramore. In 2017, he was honored on the Mississippi Blues Trail Marker in Meridian, MS. Jamell continues to write, produce, and record new music, including his debut EP "Gulf Coast Blues Boy" and his full album "Blues How I Wanna Blues." With his soulful voice, guitar skills, and stage presence, Jamell Richardson is a unique performer dedicated to entertaining his fans.
