About the event
Hanan’s artistic identity is defined by musical versatility and emotional storytelling. He describes his sound as “rural progressive” – an acoustic-based, lyrically rich blend of folk, soul, progressive rock, Americana and classic country. This unique mix reflects a wide spectrum of influences. One can hear echoes of folk troubadours, Southern rock, classic country, jazz and R&B in his songs. “Versatility is [his] game,” wrote Lagniappe, noting that Hanan effortlessly floats between genres depending on the mood. Lyrically, Hanan’s songwriting is heartfelt and introspective, often rooted in personal experience and a desire to connect. “It always starts with feel…with an emotion inside of me that must be expressed outwardly and musically,” Hanan has said of his notoriously intensive writing process. His major influences include Hall and Oates, Paul Simon, Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Elvis Costello, The Grateful Dead, George Strait, The Eagles, and The Counting Crows.
